Raith Rovers are closing in a move to land Morton’s Dougie Imrie as their new manager.
The Stark’s Park club are hunting for their fourth permanent boss in 16 months following the sacking of Barry Robson.
And the Fifers have been given green light to hold formal talks with Cappielow boss Imrie.
Defender Paul Hanlon was placed in interim control for the 3-0 defeat to Airdrie and Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Arbroath.
Technical Director John Potter is leading the search for Robson’s successor, former Airdrie boss Rhys McCabe another strong contender for the post.
Following talks with prospective candidate, however, 42-year-old Imrie is now the clear frontrunner for the post after talks with Partick Thistle in the summer.
