OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney is distancing himself from another key Justin Trudeau policy plank.
During a Sunday afternoon news conference prior to his departure from the G20 leader’s summit in Johannesburg, Carney affirmed that the days of Canada’s “feminist” foreign policy are over.
“Yes, we have that aspect to our foreign policy, but I wouldn’t describe (Canadian) foreign policy as ‘feminist foreign policy,'” Carney said in response to a reporter’s question on changes in how the Canadian government’s priorities on gender-based issues in foreign policy has changed.
“Those are different points, but related.”
