The Book Cliffs Wildlife Habitat Improvement project is underway as part of Utah’s Watershed Restoration Initiative. The project aims to increase habitat for mule deer, elk, and bison in the Book Cliffs unit and improve riparian and stream health in the Willow Creek WMA. The project details outlined on wri.utah.gov states that “dense pinyon and juniper canopy cover creates a high risk of stand-replacing wildfire.
