A 30-year-old man today was sentenced to 45 years in prison for a shooting that killed a man and injured another after they watched a professional fight on TV.
Tyshawn D. Morris was charged with murder, attempted murder, two counts of criminal recklessness and a sentencing enhancement for using a gun to commit the crime. However, he pleaded guilty last month to murder and attempted murder in exchange for dismissal of the remaining charges.
The agreement that Allen Superior Court Judge David Zent accepted Monday also stated that Morris would be sentenced to the minimum. Murder carries a possible sentence of 45 to 65 years, and attempted murder ranges from 20 to 40 years.
Those sentences will also be served at the same time.
