Prices are rising and wages are staying the same. All across America, people are struggling more and more with food insecurity as they try to keep their families fed.
New York has noticed this trend, and is working towards helping these folks out through one of our favorite pastimes: Farmers Markets.
Farmers Markets are Here to Help
In late November, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced the state's newest initiative to help those struggling with hunger. The state's farmers markets will pair with FreshConnect to distribute checks to those suffering with food insecurity.
These checks will be $20, and will be given out every week at eligible farmers markets across the region. These checks can be used for fresh, locally grown foods, that can be a massive help to those who need
