WASHINGTON — As the Trump administration explores ways to enact the president's Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) says the country "can't afford" the plan.

In an interview with , Johnson warned about the need to lower the deficit with the tariff revenue.

"We have to address the deficit problem. We are on borrowed time here," Johnson told Baritomo. "If we're bringing in revenue through the tariffs that ought to be applied to reduce the deficit, not just to making cash payments to Americans."
