One person has died and another was taken to the hospital due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at a home in Slidell. Officials said the carbon monoxide came from a generator that had been running too close to the home.
The Slidell Fire Department said they responded to the residence after two people were found unresponsive inside of the home. When they entered the residence, carbon monoxide detectors on their medical bags went off immediately.
One person died at the scene, and the other was taken to the hospital. Their current condition was not disclosed. Officials have not released their names.
Authorities said a generator was located near the home, and a fan inside was pulling the generator’s exhaust indoors, filling the house with carbon monoxide.
