WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Glenwood Regional Medical Center announced the sale of its behavioral health unit to Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Monroe.

The announcement was made on Nov. 24.

According to Glenwood, the sale is to ensure long-term and quality psychiatric services across Northeast Louisiana.

“This was an incredibly difficult decision, yet one we firmly believe is in the best interest of our community and our dedicated staff,” said Mark Boersma, MD, CEO of Glenwood.

Glenwood said part of the sale agreement is that Freedom Behavioral Hospital will “keep nearly all current BHU employees intact” and maintain their current employment, benefits, and tenure.
