PEORIA, Ill. – The 17-year-old victim in a fatal shooting at a Peoria apartment complex Saturday night has been identified.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 17-year-old Matthew Day likely died instantly after suffering two gunshot wounds at the Lexington Hills Apartments.

The shooting occurred just before 11:30 P.M. where police say Day was unresponsive after being shot in the torso.

He was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

A 21-year-old male in a nearby apartment also suffered gunshot wounds to the legs and was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
