A shop which was raided twice by Merseyside Police this year cannot have a 24-hour licence to sell alcohol in an area with “street drinkers”. Wirral Council was told a DIY chute as well as fake cigarettes, vapes, and popular soft toys called Labubus had all been found after officers “forced” their way in.

Amanji Bakhtyarpanah, on behalf of the shop Birko at 9 Grange Road West in Birkenhead , had applied for a 24-hour licence to stay open all day. The business also asked Wirral Council for permission to sell alcohol for 24 hours.
