LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska Volleyball opposite hitter Virginia Adriano was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time this year.
During the past week she recorded 18 kills, 9 blocks, 5 digs and 4 aces in Nebraska’s sweep against Iowa and No. 17 Indiana to win the Big Ten Championship outright.
Adriano averaged 3.00 kills per set with a .452 hitting percentage, and she added 1.50 blocks per set and served four aces in Nebraska’s sweeps at Iowa and No. 17 Indiana.
On Thursday, Adriano had nine kills on .500 hitting with three blocks and a career-high three aces in the 3-0 win over Iowa. On Saturday, the Turin, Italy native provided nine kills on .412 hitting with a career-best six blocks and another ace in a 3-0 win at No. 17 Indiana.
