A woman was found dead and a man severely injured after police were called to do a welfare check at an apartment in eastern Petersburg over the weekend.
It happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Petersburg East Apartments on Navajo Court, according to a Petersburg Police Facebook post . When officers responding to the welfare check entered the apartment, they found the victims in separate rooms.
The man was taken to a local hospital where police said he is in critical but stable condition.
Neither victim has been identified, and a motive has not been released. Police also did not indicate if the alleged murder weapon has been found.
