LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) — A Lorain County corrections officer who was fired for an incident — which involved striking an inmate — has been reinstated to his former position and awarded tens of thousands of dollars in back pay.

Sheriff Jack Hall fired corrections officer Christopher Jackson in April.
The firing followed a December incident at the Lorain County jail.
Surveillance video shows Jackson repeatedly striking inmate Thomas Hoskins after he threw a cup of his own waste at Jackson.
This happened while officers were handing out lunches to the inmates.
