DALLAS, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — With the abrupt resignation last week of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Georgia’s 14 th Congressional district will soon be in need of a new member of Congress.

In a video posted online late Friday with no warning, the polarizing Greene said her feud with one-time ally President Donald Trump – and Trump’s promise to back a primary challenger against her during the 2026 midterms – was at the root of her decision.

“I do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the president that we all fought for,” Greene said in the Friday resignation video. “I refuse to be a battered wife, hoping it all goes away and gets better.”
