The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is alerting residents to a surge in fraudulent text messages involving unpaid motor vehicle violations. The messages will alert to the recipient that the message is a, "final notice: unpaid traffic violation — payment required..." The message will also threaten "enforcement actions" if there is no payment made.
