CAIRO, Ill. (WSIL) -- Illinois State Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza and her team distributed 200 turkeys and canned goods to residents in Cairo for Thanksgiving.

The distribution was in partnership with Arrowleaf, which pre-screened needy families in the Cairo area to receive the meals.

Donations for the event came from Laborers’ Local 773 and Operators 318 in Marion, Sen. Dale Fowler of Harrisburg, and the Polish and Slavic Federal Credit Union. Krispy Kreme in Marion contributed boxes of donuts.
