EAST LANSING – This is the end of the line for Michigan State football’s season.

The Spartans (3-8, 0-8 Big Ten) have lost eight straight games heading into Saturday’s (7 p.m., FS1) finale against Maryland (4-7, 1-7) at Ford Field in Detroit.

Here are three things we learned from Monday’s press conference with coach Jonathan Smith, who could be heading into his last game leading the program :

1. Nick Marsh pressing?

After setting program true freshman receiving records last year, Nick Marsh was expected to take the next step. The early returns were positive with three touchdown grabs in the first two games combined but the production dropped significantly the last two weeks.
