The Newark-based Aetna Fire Company will not hold their annual "Santa Runs" this holiday season, after they said they've received a series of complaints.

According to a post on social media, Aetna said an increased amount of calls for service has led to the postponement or cancelation of several stops on the tour, often at the last minute.

"While we understand the disappointment of adults and children that had adjusted their plans to greet Santa on a fire truck, our response to requests for emergency assistance will always be our priority," Aetna said in the statement.

Aetna said they are hoping to still hold one or more events with Santa at one of their fire stations, although any dates or times are not immediately known.
