LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — In the 1950s, the massive Lincoln Grain silos held millions of bushels of grain, but years of disrepair left them dangerous.
Now, their iconic silhouettes near the corner of 33rd Street and Cornhusker Highway are being torn down, making way for new businesses and development.
“We just looked at this as a great opportunity to partner with the city to take a dilapidated building like this and be able to give some peace of mind and some safety,” said CL Construction owner Chris Lautenschlager. “Because there is a lot of breaking in that goes on and the possibility of people getting hurt.”
Lautenschlager and his team have been working for about a year to demolish the massive silos.
