MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WIS) - A field of 250 American flags now stands at Warbird Park, with each flag representing one year of the country’s history ahead of the nation’s 250th birthday.
The display features flags arranged 25 long and 10 wide across the Grand Strand park. The collection spans from lesser-known historical periods to the present day, with each flag bearing informational tags for visitors.
“And it tells you what was going on. This is 1889. Benjamin Harrison was inaugurated as President,” one visitor said while reading the historical information.
The flags were initially set out for Veterans Day, with plans for additional displays on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
