MADISON, Wis. -- A 43-year-old man helped Morgan Geyser escape a group home on Saturday, police in Illinois said.

Geyser along with classmate Anissa Weier stabbed Payton Leutner 19 times in an effort to appease fictional character Slender Man.

Police said a man and woman were found a sleeping behind Thortons Gas Station in Posen, Ill.

The man was later identified as Chad Mecca who said he met Geyser a couple of months ago at Good Shepherd Church.

Police said Geyser did not provide identification to police and told officers "she did something very bad," and that if she provided the information she would never be allowed to communicate with her friend again." She then gave officers a fictional name and date of birth.

Mecca reportedly did not give officers any information and he was late
