The Padres have filled two key positions on new manager Craig Stammen’s coaching staff.

Randy Knorr will be the new bench coach, and Steven Souza Jr. will be the hitting coach.

Stammen, who will be managing for the first time at any level, is familiar with both men.

Knorr served as bench coach for the Nationals from 2012 through ‘15, Stammen’s final four years pitching for Washington. After working under managers Davey Johnson and Matt Williams as bench coach, Knorr served in the Nationals organization in various roles from 2016 until he was let go in October after the Nationals hired a new general manager. Knorr has been a bullpen coach, first base coach, catching coordinator and player development.
