MINNESOTA, USA — Weeks after the longest shutdown in United States history, the effects are still being felt in Minnesota.
Money meant for energy assistance programs like the one provided by Minnesota has been on hold. That's worrying for those helping folks connect with resources they need.
"I know it's hard, it's going to get cold," Tammy Alto, Director of Energy Assistance for Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County , said.
"The funding that we provide provides a breathing room for them to be able to take a breath, and they count on it," Alto continued.
While those funds are delayed, Alto says many of their clients have had to figure out how to make ends meet without this funding, which normally comes by the end of October.
