SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Even though SNAP benefits have been restored, those who were waiting for the funds may have used their cash on hand to buy food, rather than pay their bills, and now they’re trying to catch up.

There’s a sense of gratitude at the Faith Temple Food Giveaway. Hunger is stopped, one potato at a time.

“A warm meal for the kids or for their elders who really need to, that can’t get out in the communities. This helps a lot with them,” said Billy Rae Sheveland with the Rosebud Delivery Organization.

Organizers are bringing back as much as they can.

“It’s gonna create food security for our people,” said Sonny Prue with Tree of Life Ministries.

From the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska to the Yankton Sioux Tribe, grocery funds are shared.
