GREENVILLE, S.C. —
AAA is forecasting another record-breaking Thanksgiving travel weekend this year, with the vast majority of people opting to drive to their destinations instead of flying.
The association forecasts that at least 73 million people will travel by car for Thanksgiving out of nearly 82 million people who are expected to travel more than 50 miles.
"You have a ton of people that are taking short jaunts to mountains and the beaches and things like that, people doing some big bucket list stuff," AAA spokesperson Tiffany Wright said.
This year marks an increase of more than one million drivers compared to last year, with the Carolinas and Georgia preparing to manage the surge in road traffic.
