CADILLAC — The Salvation Army in Cadillac is preparing for its largest Thanksgiving turkey dinner giveaway as demand for assistance continues to rise.
Organizers plan to distribute 600 dinners this year, each including a whole turkey and all the trimmings for families to prepare at home.
Captain Liz Bock said visits to the organization’s food pantry have nearly doubled this year as the cost of living continues to climb.
“It enables families to be together, and even if they can’t afford to have a Thanksgiving meal, this is important to us that it can be a family day full of thankfulness that they don’t have to worry about getting the food for their table,” Bock said. “But it will be ready. And they can cook and enjoy it together as a family.”
