A Kenai man was killed Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle along the Palmer–Wasilla Highway, Alaska State Troopers confirmed.

Troopers responded to the report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision around 5:19 p.m. near the intersection of Palmer–Wasilla Highway and Equestrian Street. At the scene, investigators determined that 39-year-old Darrel Williams was walking in the roadway when he was struck.

Life-saving efforts were attempted by bystanders and the Mat-Su Borough Sheriff’s Office prior to the arrival of emergency medical responders. Williams was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
