NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The U.S. Coast Guard is searching Lake Pontchartrain on Monday night (Nov. 24) for a possible downed small plane, a New Orleans aviation official told Fox 8.
Neither the Coast Guard nor the New Orleans Fire Department would immediately confirm the search about four miles offshore, nor provide information on the incident.
Bruce Martin, director of aviation for New Orleans Lakefront Airport, said the airport had been in contact with a small plane until losing radio contact around 6:30 p.m.
Martin said the Coast Guard soon initiated the offshore search operation.
This developing story will be updated.
