A serious crash has taken place on a busy UK road with fire, police and ambulance crews all called to the scene - and the route set to be shut 'for several hours'.

The A19 in Tyne and Wear is closed in both directions between the A1018/B1404 near Seaham and the A690 near New Herrington due to the crash .

The incident happened around 11.30pm on Monday, November 24 and Durham Police, the ambulance service and fire and rescue along with National Highways Traffic Officers were in attendance.
