HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - Henderson Police say prayers are needed for one of their own.
Lieutenant Stuart O’Nan was diagnosed in August 2024 with a rare type of sarcoma.
Police say, after noticing a lump in his bicep and undergoing numerous visits with specialists, Lt. O’Nan underwent a grueling surgery to remove the mass, which included a skin graft from his thigh.
Police say a recent follow-up scan revealed that the cancer has returned just above the previous tumor site and is aggressive.
They say last week, Lt. O’Nan went in for removal, but doctors discovered two concerning enlarged lymph nodes.
Pathology results are pending, and more surgery awaits.
Police say the road ahead is long for Lt. O’Nan and his family, but no one fights alone in the Henderson Police Department.
