DETROIT, Mich. (WILX) - On this day in 1971, plans for Detroit’s Renaissance Center were unveiled.

The Riverfront complex was meant to revive the city’s skyline.

The glass-and-steel towers right now hold the headquarters for General Motors, as well as offices and shops along the Detroit River.
