MCFARLAND, Wis. (WMTV) - The McFarland Police Department held a ceremony Monday morning to remember Officer Ryan Copeland, who was killed a squad crash 10 years ago.
In November of 2015 , Officer Copeland died when a vehicle crossed the center line and hit his squad car head-on in the Town of Albion.
Interim Police Chief Brian Redman said Copeland’s impact can still be felt within the department.
The police department adopted three core values: Respect, Professionalism and character. R, P,C- the initials of Ryan," said Redman.
He added that there was no chance for either vehicle to avoid the collision.
“This was not an intentional act,” Redman said. “Just 10 seconds earlier or 10 seconds later and that collision doesn’t happen. It was just a freak accident. Bad things happen to go
