GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - November is Epilepsy Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness of the neurological disorder the CDC says affects 3 million Americans annually.

For Joseph Coleman, awareness is crucial because epilepsy can look different for everyone who experiences it, which means different treatments and symptoms.

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that can be invisible to those who don’t know much about it.

“I have multiple kinds of seizures, some convulsive, some non-convulsive. You wouldn’t even know I was having one,” Coleman said.

Coleman is only 28, a man who has been living with severe, life-threatening, drug-resistant epilepsy since he was 18.

His girlfriend, Taylor Marsh, has been by his side to support him, but it can be challenging for both of them.
