Superintendent Mark Daniel emphasized Monday that Fort Wayne Community Schools’ recent successes – including higher literacy scores and better attendance rates – were not flukes.
“What we are seeing this year is not isolated improvement,” Daniel told the school board. “It is systemwide transformation supported by aligned leadership, strong instruction and strategic partnerships.”
Daniel spent about 20 minutes recapping the past year’s highlights, including the real-world lessons made possible by business partners and a 16% decrease in behavioral problems. The latter is likely influenced by positions funded by the safety and well-being referendum, he added.
Upticks in enrollment, particularly for Fort Wayne Virtual Academy, are also encouraging, Daniel said. More than 550 students attend
