Arizona has built one of the best community college transfer systems in the country. Most courses transfer. Most students who transfer finish their degrees within four years. Colleges across the state work hard to stay aligned. But even with all that, students in rural communities like ours still don’t have a fair shot — and it’s time the people in charge fixed that.

The Arizona Board of Regents just reviewed new data showing how the system is working. One number stands out: 209 students from Mohave Community College transferred to a public university last year. That’s just under 3% of the statewide total — right in line with Mohave County’s share of Arizona’s population. So yes, we’re holding our ground. But that’s not the same as progress.
