BRANCHVILLE, S.C. — Branchville’s only pharmacy has officially closed, and all prescriptions have been transferred to Grove Park Pharmacy in Orangeburg, about a 30-minute drive away. For many residents, that trip will not be easy.

For years, Branchville Pharmacy was the only place in town to get medications filled. Now that it has shut its doors, some people are worried about how they will access the prescriptions they depend on.

“In a small town, we can't afford to lose too many businesses, especially something that’s vital to the community as a pharmacy,” said Branchville resident Frank Ott.

Others say having to drive to Orangeburg makes an already important task even more difficult.
