Neighbors shocked after woman allegedly shot, killed her boyfriend in Russell neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A 25-year-old woman accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend on Cedar Street is being held on a $250,000 bond, authorities said.

Police say Maria Swann shot 27-year-old Isaiah Washington in the face during an argument Friday night. Swann appeared in court Monday on a domestic violence murder charge.

Swann is due back in court on Dec. 4. The judge ordered that she have no guns and no contact with Washington's family.

Neighbors who live nearby described the scene and the impact on both families.

"You can go to counseling all you want to, but if you want to stay in a volatile relationship, eventually dynamite blows up." Thomas Drake said. "Just messed up both families. His family, her family, generations forever, man."
