UNION COUNTY, Tenn — Monday evening, commissioners in Union County voted down a program that would provide a syringe exchange program at the county health department.
Clean syringes would be provided in exchange for used syringes. Live Free Claiborne is an addiction group that already manages a similar program in Claiborne County at the health department. Executive Director Joseph Hoffman said while they provide syringes, they also provide resources for those struggling with addiction.
Commissioners Lynn Beeler, Bill Cox, Dawn Flatford, R.L. Jones, Larry Lay, Gerald Simmons, and Cheryl Walker voted in favor of the resolution.
