WHEATON, Minn. — The three of them were friends in high school.

Elizabeth Deal, Tom Bock and Steve Young were well-liked at Wheaton High School during the late 1980s. Bock and Young played football, and Deal was an all-around athlete and musician who was chosen homecoming queen in 1986, the fall of her senior year.

Bock, too, was elected homecoming king when he was a senior, two years earlier. He was a co-captain of the football, basketball and track teams that year.
