Chancellor Rachel Reeves risks choking off the uptake of cycling under her plans to impose a cap on the amount employees can spend under a salary sacrifice scheme, campaigners have warned.
The Chancellor is expected to clamp down on the use of salary sacrifice schemes in her forthcoming Budget, including the popular Cycle to Work programme , which allows workers to purchase bikes through their company tax-free.
Under the proposals, Reeves is believed to be planning to reintroduce a limit on how much employees can spend on both conventional bicycles and e-bikes due to Treasury concerns that the scheme is being abused by the wealthy to buy expensive e-bikes. New Feature
