An army veteran died when he veered into a layby on the A19 and crashed into the back of a parked lorry.

Brian Joseph Nordstrom was driving his black Range Rover southbound between Castle Eden and Peterlee in County Durham when he was spotted swerving in the road before smashing into the HGV.

An inquest on Monday (November 24) heard it was a “real possibility” the 42-year-old may have fallen asleep or had a medical episode at the wheel before the crash on June 5 , but the cause of the collision could not be determined for sure.
