INDIANAPOLIS – The last time Bishop Dwenger reached the football state finals, back in 2018, Jason Garrett was in his first year as head coach for the Saints. Houston Ellinger, now a senior two-way player, was a ball boy on the sidelines that year, which concluded with a 16-10 quadruple-overtime win over Evansville Central, the longest state finals game ever played in Indiana.
“We had pictures being sent around over the weekend of guys that were kids at the state game, in the stands,” Garrett said at the annual state finals coaches meeting at Lucas Oil Stadium on Monday.
