The San Francisco 49ers took a 7-0 lead on their first drive of the game. There was no comeback from the Panthers. Almost half of their team was in the end zone on the last drive of the first quarter, but safety Ji’Ayir Brown intercepted their quarterback, Bryce Young. Head coach Dave Canales revealed his stance on that end zone interception in his post-game conference.

“It was a great action. He saw Mitch, and right when he turns back in, they had a defender on the edge who popped out and intercepted it. I’d like the call,” Canales said. “It was an aggressive call, a play action that we had opportunities on, and unfortunately came out with an interception.”

In the end, the Panthers lost the game 20-9.
