MEDINA, Ohio – While it won’t be a paid position, council has approved a motion to create a position of airport manager at Medina Municipal Airport.

Law Director Greg Huber said that when he came on as law director, Rick Grice was handling responsibilities at the airport even though he was not an official airport manager.

“I ended up taking over those duties and that’s been OK, but as time has gone by the FAA has become more and more reliant on communication with a point person with the city,” Huber said. “That is why I am proposing this amendment which creates the position of airport manager.”

Huber suggested the position be unpaid and appointed by the mayor and approved by council. He suggested the position be a four-year term.
