The University of Charleston women’s volleyball team learned its opponent for the first round of the NCAA Division II volleyball tournament on Monday.
The Golden Eagles (23-12) drew a seventh seed in the Atlantic Region and will play No. 2 East Stroudsburg at a location, date and time to be announced.
It is the first tournament bid for the program since 2022.
UC earned the Mountain East Conference’s automatic bid to the tournament after the team defeated West Virginia State 3-1 on Saturday in the league championship game on West Virginia Wesleyan’s campus in Buckhannon.
The Golden Eagles lost the first set, 23-25, then rallied to take the final three sets 25-18, 27-25, 25-18. Divine Muo led UC’s effort with a game-high 19 kills. She also had five blocks in the match.
