A wide variety of people across the UK could be eligible to receive their prescriptions for free through the NHS . Recent data from the NHS Business Services Authority (BSA) revealed that community pharmacies across England dispensed 1.16 billion prescriptions in 2024/25.
This represents a 4% increase from the previous year and contributes to a four-year consecutive rise in the number of people receiving prescriptions. While some people may be prescribed medicine through the NHS, they may still be required to pay for it, depending on their individual circumstances.
