A man has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged attack left two people seriously injured.
Ross Clancy is set to appear before Newcastle Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday, November 25) following an incident on Durham Street in Newcastle on Friday.
The 39-year-old, of Dunholme Road, Newcastle, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of burglary and one count of theft of a vehicle.
Emergency services were called to the property at around 6.45pm on November 21 after a man and woman in their 60s were seriously injured.
The woman remains fighting for her life in hospital with severe head injuries while the man is in a stable condition. Both victims' next of kin have been informed.
A cordon was put in place at the scene and officers remained in the area
