A 16-year-old boy is in a critical condition following a shooting in Sheffield. South Yorkshire Police responded to reports of the incident on London Road at 5.17pm on Monday. The boy was swiftly taken to hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening state. The shooting occurred near the city centre, close to Sheffield United's stadium, Bramall Lane. In the wake of the incident, police have increased patrols in the area to reassure the community and to assist in the investigation. Detective Chief Inspector Emma Knight, the Senior Investigating Officer, described the event as a "terrible incident" that has left the community deeply concerned. She stated, "I want to assure residents that a dedicated team of officers and staff are working tirelessly to understand the circumstances that led to this attack and to trace those responsible. We need you to work with us and provide any information you have. This is not acceptable on our streets, so we must work together to stop it." Police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.
