Two people have been taken to hospital after an early-hours disturbance near a County Durham Wetherspoon.

Police were called to Front Street in Chester-Le-Street, near the Wicket Gate Wetherspoon, at 1.40am on Sunday (November 23).

Two people were taken to University Hospital of North Durham. The extent of their injuries is not known.

An investigation is now underway.

An eyewitness told the Echo a police cordon was erected for a short time near the pub.
