A new helipad has been opened at Cramlington Hospital , with the Great North Air Ambulance Service set to majorly benefit as a result. The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital project was completed in October, and it has now been signed off for use.

The work began earlier this year to make sure the helipad meets the latest aviation standards, and was supported by a £630,000 donation from the HELP Appeal, the only charity in the country which is dedicated to funding helipads at NHS hospitals.
